First Impressions of Venezuela

An overnight coach and two flights later – I’ve made it to Venezuela.

I’m staying in Caracas tonight with two girls from the organisation we’re joining tomorrow morning at Playa Colorada.

First impressions of Venezuela: everybody is very helpful and friendly (at least so far..!). The airport at Caracas is fairly small and easy to navigate. Changing money was easy and actually very good value… For 40 USDs I received almost 7000 Bolivares.

Our little hotel is quite nice. High gates surround the front entrance. The friendly receptionist told us about a food shop nearby, so we ventured off round the corner to pick up some water. Inside it was a nightmare trying to order… It almost turned into a game of charades with the boys behind the counter! We figured we definitely need to brush up on some Spanish if we’re going to get by here!
